Great effort from @SportsTN_ for hosting the first-ever @WSL event in India. This is another feather in your cap adding to the success of #44thChessOlympiad, #WTAChennaiOpen, and #AsianChampionsTrophy Hockey tournament.
A proud moment for our state and a step forward in putting Tamil Nadu on the global #surfing map. @UdhayStalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin congratulated international surfers Sara Wakita and Tenshi Iwami for securing impressive championship victories at the inaugural Tamil Nadu International Surf Open hosted along the Mahabalipuram coastline. Commending the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Stalin lauded their exemplary initiative in successfully conducting India's first-ever official World Surf League competition.
The Chief Minister remarked that hosting premier global surfing events marks another illustrious triumph for Tamil Nadu's sports administration, following the historic success of the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad, the WTA Chennai Open tennis championship, and the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament. He stated that these world-class tournaments showcase Tamil Nadu's exceptional organizational capability, state-of-the-art sports facilities, and warm athletic hospitality before the international sporting community.
Stalin affirmed that promoting diverse sports disciplines and providing international exposure to domestic athletes remains a priority under Dravidian Model governance. He expressed confidence that nurturing aquatic and coastal athletics will inspire regional youth and firmly establish Tamil Nadu as India's premier destination for global sports.
He concluded that sustained institutional investments in sports infrastructure will empower grassroots athletes, placing Tamil Nadu at the zenith of international sporting glory.
