Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conveyed warm greetings to citizens on the 384th anniversary of Chennai Day, honoring the historic capital city as a vibrant egalitarian confluence of cultural diversity, cosmopolitan energy, and inclusive human fellowship. Stalin recalled pivotal milestones in Dravidian political history, noting that former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai formally christened the ancient linguistic land as Tamil Nadu, while former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi officially renamed the historic capital from Madras to Chennai.

Reflecting on the city's profound emotional significance for millions of residents, Stalin described Chennai as a luminous mirror reflecting India's pluralistic ethos, where people from diverse regions, mother tongues, and backgrounds coexist in fraternal harmony. Invoking saint Ramalinga Adigalar's famous description of Chennai as a land brimming with righteous charity, Stalin stated that the metropolis exemplifies progressive coexistence, modern healthcare infrastructure, industrial dynamism, and cultural richness.

The Chief Minister pledged that his government will continuously enhance Chennai's urban infrastructure, ecological sustainability, and living standards. He urged all citizens to preserve the metropolis's inclusive spirit, safeguarding its historical legacy while building a prosperous future.

He reaffirmed that the state administration will passionately protect Chennai's multicultural essence, driving sustainable progress while preserving communal harmony.
