Compulsory Hindi test by @NTA_Exams for non-teaching positions in NITs and other institutions under @EduMinOfIndia undermines linguistic equality and is a blatant disregard for diversity. Imposing Hindi deprives the opportunities for youth from Tamil Nadu and other non-hindi speaking states. Scrap the unjust Hindi language requirement now and make it a test for all!

Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Union Ministry of Education and the National Testing Agency for mandating a compulsory Hindi language examination for recruiting non-teaching staff in National Institutes of Technology and other central educational institutions. Stalin termed the testing rule a blatant assault on constitutional linguistic equality and an overt attempt to marginalize qualified aspirants hailing from Tamil Nadu and other non-Hindi speaking states.

The Chief Minister argued that imposing Hindi testing in national institutes located across diverse states violates the spirit of federal pluralism and systematically denies employment avenues to eligible regional youth. He called upon Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to immediately revoke the unilateral language requirement and introduce a fair, inclusive testing framework accessible to candidates from all linguistic backgrounds. Stalin stressed that public employment in Union institutions must never be gated behind arbitrary linguistic conditions.

Stalin reiterated Tamil Nadu's historic vanguard role in resisting Hindi imposition across government sectors. He emphasized that administrative efficiency and national unity rely upon mutual respect for linguistic diversity rather than enforcing monocultural dominance across recruitment platforms.
