Proud to announce a significant step towards realising Thalaivar Kalaignar's vision! In tribute to his centenary year, we're allocating 3 crores to translate #MadrasHighCourt judgments into Tamil. This aligns with our commitment to making Tamil as an official language in the Madras High Court.
I also recall Hon'ble CJI Thiru D.Y.Chandrachud's efforts championing the cause of regional languages accessibility to judgments.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced an allocation of three crore rupees to translate judgments of the Madras High Court into Tamil, fulfilling a cherished vision of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi during his centenary year. Stalin highlighted that making judicial pronouncements available in the regional language represents a vital step toward making the legal system transparent, comprehensible, and accessible to the common public.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government's long-standing policy commitment to designate Tamil as an official language of proceedings in the Madras High Court alongside English. He recalled and welcomed the pioneering efforts championed by the Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud, who has consistently advocated for leveraging technology to translate court verdicts into regional languages across the country. Stalin noted that linguistic accessibility in higher judiciary bridges the gap between citizens and the justice system.
Stalin affirmed that ensuring citizens understand court verdicts in their mother tongue strengthens constitutional democracy and public trust in the rule of law. He concluded that Tamil Nadu will continue spearheading progressive linguistic and legal reforms that democratize access to justice for ordinary citizens across all sections of society.
