Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly defended Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, condemning the malicious distortion of his remarks by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Stalin clarified that the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development spoke solely against systemic caste discrimination, untouchability, and social hierarchies inherent in Sanatana doctrines, and never called for violence or genocide as falsely claimed by central political opponents.

The Chief Minister expressed profound disappointment that the Prime Minister, Union Cabinet Ministers, and several BJP Chief Ministers ignored verifiable facts and amplified unfounded narratives despite possessing full official resources to verify the original speech. Stalin observed that high constitutional functionaries stooping to propagate fabricated allegations illustrates an attempt to incite communal hostility and polarize the electorate ahead of assembly and general elections.

Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian movement has relentlessly championed human dignity, gender justice, and social equality for over a century. He stressed that questioning regressive practices that deny basic rights to backward communities is the essence of democratic debate. The Chief Minister reiterated that the DMK will not be intimidated by politically motivated attacks.
