Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commemorated the 145th birth anniversary of Dravidian reformer Thanthai Periyar, observed across Tamil Nadu as Social Justice Day. Stalin described Periyar's life as a living political philosophy that transcended language, region, and religion to anchor governance in human dignity and self-respect. He noted that Periyar witnessed his revolutionary egalitarian ideals take statutory shape during his lifetime, setting an inspiring benchmark for progressive public administration.
Stalin affirmed that every contemporary welfare initiative formulated by his government, especially programs advancing women's empowerment and caste equality, draws inspiration from Periyar's rationalist doctrines. Following the illustrious administrative traditions of former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi, Stalin solemnly dedicated his leadership to Periyar's enduring vision. He stated that the Dravidian movement continues to dismantle social hierarchies and secure equitable institutional representation for historically oppressed communities.
The Chief Minister stressed that Periyar's principles remain vital in countering regressive forces seeking to erode constitutional values. He urged public servants and citizens to uphold equality, secularism, and fraternity in everyday civic engagement. Stalin reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will consistently champion human dignity and universal progress across all public spheres.
