Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated 1,591 newly constructed permanent concrete houses built for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees across nineteen rehabilitation camps in thirteen districts, marking a historic milestone on Thanthai Periyar's birth anniversary during the Kalaignar centenary year. Stalin fulfilled his foundational pledge made upon assuming office, where he officially renamed refugee settlements as 'Sri Lankan Tamil Rehabilitation Camps' and allocated hundreds of crores of rupees for comprehensive infrastructural and livelihood development.
Interacting with camp residents both in person and via video conference, the Chief Minister expressed deep emotional satisfaction at seeing Tamil families move from dilapidated huts into dignified, secure concrete homes equipped with piped water, electricity, and sanitary amenities. He emphasized that the DMK government stands as a protective sibling, guaranteeing free education, healthcare, and monthly subsistence allowances.
Stalin affirmed that restoring human dignity to war-affected Tamil brethren is a sacred moral duty of the Dravidian Model governance. He reiterated that his government will persistently advocate with the Union government to secure permanent citizenship rights for Sri Lankan Tamils. Stalin expressed profound happiness that these modern homes bring long-awaited safety, self-respect, and hope to thousands of families.
