Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted extensive on-site inspections of major road restoration and infrastructure modernization projects across South Chennai, fulfilling his commitment made during recent administrative review meetings. Accompanied by cabinet colleagues, the Chief Secretary, and municipal engineers, Stalin inspected critical road corridors to ensure that infrastructure restoration is executed with high engineering standards and minimal disruption to the commuting public.
The Chief Minister reviewed the coordinated execution of interconnected civic projects, including stormwater drain construction, Chennai Metro Rail tunneling, subterranean power cable laying, and water supply networks. Stalin instructed municipal authorities, highways engineers, and utility boards to maintain seamless synchronization, avoid repetitive road cuts, and resurface excavated roads swiftly with high-grade bitumen.
To guarantee sustained operational accountability and prompt project delivery, Stalin issued executive orders directing the Chief Secretary to convene mandatory weekly monitoring meetings to track road development and repair works statewide. He cautioned that substandard construction or unnecessary delays causing inconvenience to citizens would invite strict administrative action. The Chief Minister reiterated that building durable, pedestrian-friendly, and climate-resilient roads is an indispensable priority of his urban governance agenda.
