Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin chaired the fourth full council meeting of the State Planning Commission in Chennai, reviewing ongoing developmental policy formulation and evaluating the grassroots implementation of major welfare schemes. Stalin instructed the Commission to work in seamless coordination with the Department of Economics and Statistics and the Evaluation and Applied Research Department to establish evidence-based governance metrics across all administrative sectors.
The Chief Minister specifically asked the Planning Commission to formulate concrete policy recommendations to refine and expand the reach of flagship programs, including the youth upskilling initiative Naan Mudhalvan and the universal basic income scheme Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam. He mandated that the Commission undertake comprehensive field-based socio-economic impact studies to quantify real improvements in household living standards, female economic autonomy, and youth employability across rural and urban districts.
Stalin stressed that policy planning must translate theoretical economic concepts into measurable welfare benefits for marginalized citizens. He urged economists and development experts on the panel to recommend strategies for balanced regional growth, sustainable green industrialization, and fiscal optimization. The Chief Minister concluded that empirical planning remains the cornerstone of Tamil Nadu's goal to achieve a one-trillion-dollar economy.
