Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated a historic milestone in social justice and spiritual equality, hailing the appointment of qualified temple priests from all castes, including women archakas, in temples managed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department. Commending HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekarbabu, Stalin declared this achievement as the ultimate realization of Thanthai Periyar's dream, removing the final thorn from the reformer's heart.
The Chief Minister highlighted that for centuries, hereditary privilege and caste monopolies denied devout, qualified individuals from backward, most backward, and Dalit communities the right to enter temple sanctums and perform poojas. By establishing specialized Archaka Training Centers and appointing qualified persons regardless of birth, the Dravidian Model government has turned statutory equality into practical reality in the spiritual realm.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian movement has always struggled to eliminate discriminatory hierarchies and guarantee equal human dignity in all public and religious spaces. He commended the newly inducted male and female archakas for their religious scholarship and devotion. The Chief Minister concluded that this path-breaking reform cements Tamil Nadu's status as a pioneer in social justice, progressive religious administration, and casteless fraternity.
