Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the first phase of 1,000 newly constructed modern school buildings across rural Tamil Nadu under the Child-Friendly School Infrastructure Development Scheme. Implemented through the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, the state government accomplished this massive infrastructure feat within just eight months of Stalin laying the foundation stone on February 1, 2023.

The Chief Minister stressed that government schools represent the foremost symbols of social equality and civic pride. The new structures feature spacious, well-ventilated smart classrooms, modern sanitation blocks, safe drinking water facilities, and accessible campus ramps, ensuring a welcoming learning environment for rural children. Stalin commended Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi for coordinating inter-departmental efforts to deliver high-quality construction ahead of schedule.

Stalin affirmed that modernizing public school infrastructure ensures that children from underprivileged and agrarian families receive world-class education without financial barriers. He reiterated that state initiatives like the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme, Perasiriyar Anbazhagan School Development Scheme, and Namma School Namma Ooru Palli campaign continue to elevate Tamil Nadu's educational rankings, empowering rural students to compete and succeed globally.
