Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti, remembering him as a fearless crusader who defeated imperial colonial rule wearing mere homespun cloth and stood as a lonely bulwark against communal hatred. Stalin noted that social reformer Thanthai Periyar recognized the profound humanitarian essence of Gandhi's struggle, famously advocating that the entire country ought to be named 'Gandhi Desam.'
Addressing citizens on this commemorative day, the Chief Minister warned that modern India faces growing threats from divisive, majoritarian forces seeking to dismantle constitutional fraternity. He emphasized that the true homage to the Father of the Nation lies not in ritualistic tributes, but in actively eradicating communal bitterness and cultivating peaceful, secular coexistence among diverse religious and linguistic communities.
Stalin reaffirmed that the Dravidian Model government is dedicated to realizing Gandhi's humanitarian ideals through its core governance commitment of 'Ellarkkum Ellam' (Everything for Everyone). He rallied citizens to defend democratic values, protect minority rights, and resist authoritarian tendencies. The Chief Minister concluded that unity, rationalism, and compassion remain the only viable foundation for a progressive and harmonious Indian nation.
