Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a high-level review meeting with District Collectors and District Forest Officers in Chennai, providing strategic guidance on biodiversity conservation, wildlife habitat protection, and statewide afforestation targets. For the first time in the history of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, Stalin instituted and presented specialized state awards to outstanding District Forest Officers, recognizing exemplary field leadership in ecological protection.
Addressing forest officials, the Chief Minister stressed that building a green, climate-resilient society requires proactive ecological stewardship and collective community participation. He highlighted that supporting forestry field personnel is every citizen's civic responsibility, as preserving natural ecosystems directly safeguards the environmental health, biodiversity, and water security of future generations.
Stalin reviewed the progress of key ecological initiatives, including the Green Tamil Nadu Mission, wetland restoration drives, and anti-poaching measures across protected sanctuaries. He urged forest authorities to collaborate closely with revenue administration and indigenous forest-dwelling communities to resolve boundary issues and expand tree cover. The Chief Minister reaffirmed that environmental sustainability remains a top policy pillar of the Dravidian Model governance, ensuring ecological balance across the state.
