The Union BJP Government's vindictive politics knows no bounds!

Arresting AAP MP Sanjay Singh and raiding DMK MP Jagathrakshakan's home are clear examples of their misuse of independent investigating agencies for political ends against INDIA bloc leaders.

This deliberate persecution of opposition leaders is an assault on democracy. The BJP conveniently forgets that the Supreme Court has just warned the ED to be transparent and fair. But it seems they are hell-bent on disregarding the rule of law and democracy.

The BJP is clearly afraid of the growing unity among opposition parties. It's time they stop their witch-hunt and focus on addressing the real issues.

Editorial context

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Union government's growing use of federal investigative agencies against opposition figures, characterizing recent enforcement actions as targeted political vendetta. Highlighting the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh and extensive Income Tax raids at DMK MP S. Jagathrakshakan's residence, Stalin warned that weaponizing autonomous institutions undermines constitutional governance and fair democratic competition across India.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the Supreme Court of India had recently cautioned the Enforcement Directorate to maintain absolute fairness, transparency, and procedural integrity. Despite these explicit judicial observations, central authorities continue to deploy statutory bodies selectively to intimidate regional leaders and weaken political opposition. Stalin asserted that such heavy-handed tactics reflect the ruling party's acute anxiety over the consolidating unity and strength of the national INDIA alliance.

Stalin demanded an immediate halt to politically motivated inquiries, urging central leaders to respect the rule of law and focus on pressing national challenges like inflation and unemployment. He reaffirmed that no amount of bureaucratic intimidation will deter democratic parties from defending federal principles, regional dignity, secularism, and democratic rights across the country.
