Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended the Greater Chennai Corporation for introducing modern '#SheToilet' facilities across high-footfall commercial zones, transit terminals, and public spaces in the capital city. Emphasizing that urban infrastructure must prioritize women's dignity, comfort, and physical safety, Stalin hailed the launch of dedicated, secure, and thoughtfully designed restroom spaces equipped with sanitary napkin dispensers, disposal incinerators, and feeding spaces for nursing mothers.
The Chief Minister issued strict instructions to municipal authorities, zonal commissioners, and sanitation maintenance teams to ensure that newly installed toilets remain spotlessly clean, fully functional, and regularly audited. He stressed that constructing civic facilities is merely the preliminary step; the sustained success of such vital urban public amenities depends entirely on rigorous, continuous, and disciplined daily sanitary upkeep.
Stalin noted that accessible public sanitation is an essential component of women's public participation and overall social well-being in rapidly growing metropolises. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model government is determined to expand similar female-friendly civic amenities across all municipal corporations in Tamil Nadu, fostering safer, cleaner, and more welcoming public environments for women from all walks of life.
