Following rigorous field review meetings across Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, and Chennai districts under the #CMonFieldInspection program, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued two major citizen-centric policy relief decisions. Responding to persistent appeals from resident welfare associations, Stalin announced that common utility electricity tariffs for small residential complexes—defined as buildings with up to ten apartments and three floors without elevators—would be reduced to 5.50 rupees per unit.
Additionally, to relieve traffic congestion and financial strain on daily commuters navigating ongoing Chennai Metro Rail Phase II construction corridor along Old Mahabalipuram Road, Stalin directed the immediate suspension of user toll collection at the Navalur toll plaza. Both decisions directly address middle-class urban concerns, reflecting an administration that listens attentively and responds swiftly to public representations gathered during direct administrative inspections.
Stalin emphasized that periodic field reviews bridge the gap between administrative policy and ground-level citizen experiences. He directed cabinet ministers and senior department secretaries to replicate these regular field inspections across districts, ensuring that governance remains dynamic, empathetic, and responsive to the evolving everyday needs of the people across every corner of Tamil Nadu.
