Editorial context

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tributes to legendary freedom fighters Chinna Maruthu and Periya Maruthu, celebrating their indomitable courage in battling British colonial occupation. Recalling the 1801 anti-colonial resistance in Sivaganga, Stalin noted that British military officer Colonel James Welsh documented in awe how the traditional Tamil boomerang weapon, the valari, vanquished colonial cannons. He reaffirmed that the DMK government honors historical martyrs, noting the allocation of 34 lakh rupees to erect statues of the Maruthu brothers in Chennai.

Stalin invoked former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's celebrated literary work 'Thenpandi Singam,' which immortalized the heroic sacrifices of the Maruthu rulers for generations. He contrasted the genuine patriotism of secular freedom fighters with reactionary elements who venerate Mahatma Gandhi's assassin, Nathuram Godse. Stalin criticized sectarian organizations that peddle superficial nationalism while harboring divisive communal ideologies, citing Mahakavi Subramania Bharati's famous poetic condemnation of hypocritical pseudo-patriots.

The Chief Minister asserted that true nationalism embraces pluralism, sacrifice, and social dignity rather than communal hatred. He pledged that the Dravidian movement would permanently safeguard the patriotic memory of Tamil Nadu's valiant anti-colonial warriors.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
