Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited Madurai and Pasumpon to pay floral tributes on the 116th birth anniversary and guru puja of freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. In Madurai, Stalin garlanded Thevar's grand statue at Goripalayam, originally erected by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, before proceeding to Pasumpon to pay homage at his memorial. He urged citizens to embrace Thevar's lifelong dedication to social harmony, national freedom, and public welfare.
Earlier in Madurai, Stalin honored the valiant Maruthu Pandiyar brothers at the Teppakulam memorial, celebrating their historic resistance against British colonial rule. Moving beyond commemorative tributes, the Chief Minister launched critical urban infrastructure initiatives to resolve Madurai's persistent traffic congestion. He initiated construction for the Goripalayam intersection flyover at an estimated cost of 190.40 crore rupees and the Thondi Road Apollo junction flyover and roundabout worth 150.28 crore rupees.
Stalin emphasized that holistic regional development requires blending cultural pride with modern civic infrastructure. By investing over 340 crore rupees in Madurai's road network, the administration fulfills vital public transit needs while celebrating the heroic heritage of southern Tamil Nadu with visible public works.
