Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin affirmed that Chennai has moved past the era of panic during seasonal rains, crediting proactive flood mitigation projects executed since the DMK government assumed office. Stalin highlighted that the systematic desilting of major waterways and the construction of 876 kilometers of newly engineered stormwater drains successfully prevented severe waterlogging and safeguarded residential habitations from prolonged flooding during torrential North-East Monsoon downpours.

With the meteorological department forecasting further heavy rain spells, the Chief Minister instructed cabinet ministers, local body representatives, Greater Chennai Corporation leadership, and field workers to remain stationed continuously on the ground. He directed administrative personnel to operate high-capacity motor pumps in vulnerable low-lying neighborhoods, maintain clear outflow channels to the sea, and provide immediate civic assistance to residents without delay.

Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model administration stands firmly with citizens through every crisis, proving that scientific planning and rapid administrative execution can mitigate extreme weather events. He called on public representatives and municipal staff to work tirelessly to prevent even minor public inconveniences, bolstering citizens' enduring confidence in responsive democratic governance.
