On National Children's Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin received an extensive investigative report from retired High Court Judge Justice K. Chandru, who headed a one-man committee appointed to examine and modernize the operations, safety protocols, and administrative efficiency of observation homes, special homes, and juvenile care facilities across the state. Stalin commended Justice Chandru for undertaking this vital humanitarian study purely out of social commitment without accepting any government honorarium or remuneration.
The Chief Minister announced that the state government will thoroughly review the committee's findings in close consultation with senior officials from the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department. The administration intends to implement progressive recommendations rapidly, focusing on upgrading juvenile rehabilitation standards, ensuring institutional psychological counseling, providing comprehensive vocational training, and establishing child-friendly living spaces within correctional and care homes.
Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model governance prioritizes the constitutional rights, dignity, and future well-being of vulnerable children. By transforming custodial facilities into genuinely rehabilitative and empathetic environments, the state ensures that children in conflict with the law or requiring protection receive supportive guidance, enabling them to reintegrate into mainstream society as empowered, responsible, and self-reliant citizens.
