Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a newly constructed U-shaped vehicular flyover on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, built at a cost of 18.15 crore rupees to significantly decongest vehicular traffic along Chennai's premier information technology corridor. Recalling that former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi originally conceptualized and transformed Old Mahabalipuram Road into a world-class IT corridor, Stalin emphasized that modernizing this arterial highway is essential to supporting the city’s economic vitality.
The newly commissioned elevated U-turn facility facilitates seamless vehicular movement, eliminating hazardous bottleneck intersections and reducing travel delays for thousands of tech professionals, commuters, and freight operators traveling daily between southern suburbs and central Chennai. Designed to allow uninterrupted traffic transitions without signal interruptions, the flyover optimizes road capacity and enhances commuter safety along the densely populated IT expressway.
Stalin underscored that the state government is executing comprehensive multi-modal transportation upgrades across Chennai, combining road flyovers, stormwater drainage, pedestrian paths, and metro rail connectivity. He affirmed that continuous investment in modern urban transit infrastructure remains vital to maintaining Tamil Nadu's competitive lead as India’s leading software export and technology hub, improving daily quality of life for metropolitan residents.
