On this momentous day, I had the privilege of unveiling the statue of former Prime Minister and a towering icon of #SocialJustice, Thiru #VPSingh. His life stands as a testament to the enduring words of VP Singh himself, who once remarked, "There is no last day in the calendar of any politician," emphasising the commitment to public life.
Tamil Nadu, the land of VP Singh's ideological brethren will always remember his selfless sacrifices and contributions.
I express my sincere gratitude to the family of Thiru. V.P.Singh and my beloved brother, Hon'ble @yadavakhilesh, for making this day more special with their esteemed presence.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a full-length bronze statue of former Prime Minister and stalwart champion of social justice, V.P. Singh, on the historic grounds of Presidency College in Chennai. Reflecting on Singh's iconic philosophical declaration that there is no final day in the calendar of a true public servant, Stalin extolled his lifelong selflessness and unwavering dedication to democratic rights and marginalized citizens across the country.
Stalin stated that the people of Tamil Nadu, as ideological brethren of V.P. Singh, will forever cherish his courageous implementation of the Mandal Commission recommendations. By implementing 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes despite intense political adversity, Singh fundamentally expanded access to federal civil services and educational institutions for historically oppressed communities.
The Chief Minister conveyed profound gratitude to V.P. Singh’s family and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav for gracing the momentous ceremony with their presence. Stalin emphasized that honoring V.P. Singh in Chennai cements the ideological bridge connecting North and South Indian progressive parties. He affirmed that democratic and federal forces must unite to defend social justice, conduct caste censuses, and protect constitutional governance nationwide.
