Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a high-level review meeting with district collectors of twelve districts following meteorological alerts predicting heavy rainfall over the subsequent two to three days. Stalin issued comprehensive administrative directives to ensure that government departments remain on high alert and coordinate operations effectively to prevent public hardship during severe weather.
During the consultation, Stalin assessed district-level preparedness, including the availability of emergency rescue equipment, medical supplies, food reserves, and designated relief shelters. He instructed district collectors to monitor water levels in reservoirs, irrigation tanks, and urban drainage networks closely, initiating controlled discharges wherever necessary to avert localized inundation. All line agencies, including municipal administration, public works, highways, and revenue departments, were directed to maintain integrated ground operations.
Stalin called upon public representatives and government officials to maintain a continuous presence in the field alongside citizens. He emphasized that visible administrative leadership on the ground is vital to bolstering public confidence and resolving local emergencies promptly. The Chief Minister reiterated that the administration’s primary goal is safeguarding lives, protecting property, and ensuring that basic civic services remain functional despite persistent downpours.
