Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed the people of the state during the height of Cyclone Michaung, describing it as one of the most severe storms encountered in recent history. Stalin observed that the cyclone brought relentless, extraordinary rainfall surpassing even the 2015 deluge, dumping unprecedented precipitation across Chennai and neighboring coastal districts within a matter of hours.
The Chief Minister pointed out that comprehensive advance preparations, scientific stormwater drain works, and timely administrative evacuations significantly mitigated casualties and prevented catastrophic loss of human life. Emergency rescue and relief operations were mobilized on a war footing, with disaster response forces, police personnel, and civic workers rescuing thousands of stranded residents from rising waters.
Stalin reaffirmed that the state government stands firmly with every affected citizen during this hour of trial. Appealing beyond political party divisions, he called upon all citizens, charitable organizations, and volunteers to unite in a spirit of shared human solidarity. Declaring that natural calamities must be conquered through human empathy, Stalin urged everyone to join hands with the administration to alleviate suffering and rebuild communities with unwavering resilience.
