Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted intensive field inspections across flood-hit neighborhoods in Kolathur, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, and Egmore constituencies in Chennai. Stalin reviewed ground-level rescue operations, monitored stormwater drainage discharge, and distributed essential food and drinking water supplies directly to inundated households grappling with the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung.
Addressing public concerns regarding suspended electricity in several submerged areas, the Chief Minister clarified that power supply had been temporarily disconnected as a vital precautionary safety measure. He explained that operating electrical transformers and live cables amid deep standing floodwaters carries grave risks of electrocution and fatal accidents. Stalin reassured residents that electricity restoration teams are working diligently to restore power street-by-street as soon as floodwaters recede safely.
Stalin observed that government ministers, municipal officials, emergency responders, and grassroots civic workers are laboring around the clock without rest to protect citizens and repair civic amenities. He urged residents to remain patient while essential safety protocols are strictly enforced. Stalin affirmed that public safety remains the supreme consideration of his administration, promising swift normalization across all metropolitan residential areas.
