Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a substantial flood relief package of 6,000 rupees in cash for families whose livelihoods were severely impacted by Cyclone Michaung. Addressing the immediate economic distress caused by unprecedented inundation across Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu, Stalin issued executive orders ensuring that the assistance reaches eligible households swiftly through fair price shops without cumbersome bureaucratic procedures.
In addition to direct cash transfers, the Chief Minister mandated significant upward revisions in compensation payouts for various categories of flood damages. Relief amounts for fully damaged hutments, partially damaged structures, perished livestock, and submerged agricultural crops were enhanced to help affected families rebuild their assets. Stalin instructed revenue officials to undertake swift, transparent field enumeration to avoid exclusions.
Stalin reaffirmed that the Dravidian Model administration operates with deep empathy, prioritizing the well-being of the working class, daily wage earners, and vulnerable urban communities during natural calamities. He stated that the government mobilized its entire machinery to clear waterlogged streets, restore power, and supply food, promising that relief and rehabilitation initiatives will persist vigorously until complete normalcy returns to every affected neighborhood.
