Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a significant increase of three rupees per liter in the state's milk procurement price, fulfilling a major demand of dairy farmers. Highlighting the administration's dedicated support for rural livelihoods, Stalin noted that the Dravidian Model government is the only administration in the state's history to raise milk procurement prices by a cumulative six rupees within a single calendar year.
The Chief Minister explained that the price revision directly benefits hundreds of thousands of smallholder dairy producers and cooperative milk pouring members across rural Tamil Nadu. Given rising feed costs and changing climatic conditions, enhanced procurement rates provide vital income stability, incentivize local milk production, and strengthen the state’s cooperative dairy network, Aavin.
Stalin emphasized that the welfare of farming communities forms the backbone of Tamil Nadu’s economic prosperity. Alongside fair procurement pricing, the state government continues providing veterinary healthcare, cattle insurance subsidies, and infrastructure support to dairy societies. Reaffirming his government's farmer-centric approach, Stalin assured that policy decisions will consistently protect agricultural producers while ensuring affordable, nutritious milk supplies for urban consumers statewide.
