Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the emergency deployment of state cabinet ministers and senior IAS officers to supervise administrative preparedness in southern districts following severe downpours. Addressing the sudden intensification of the northeast monsoon, Stalin emphasized that intense rainfall across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari required immediate, organized command structures on the ground to safeguard lives and minimize property losses.
The appointed ministers and special monitoring officers were instructed to camp directly in the respective districts to coordinate with local administrations, emergency rescue teams, and disaster response forces. Stalin directed them to closely monitor reservoir inflow rates, oversee water discharges from dams, clear stormwater chokes, and evacuate residents living in low-lying tracts to designated safety shelters equipped with food and clean drinking water.
Appealing directly to the public, the Chief Minister urged residents to adhere strictly to government advisories, avoid unnecessary travel during torrential downpours, and cooperate with official evacuation efforts. Stalin reaffirmed that the state administration is fully prepared with emergency rescue machinery and relief supplies, underscoring that proactive intervention and civic cooperation remain vital to navigating severe weather challenges safely and efficiently.
