Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a high-level review meeting with cabinet ministers, senior state officials, and district collectors to evaluate the extensive damage caused by unprecedented rainfall across southern Tamil Nadu. Stalin received detailed situation reports on river breach points, reservoir inflows, disrupted transport corridors, and submerged agricultural tracts across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari.
During the review, Stalin issued firm directives to ensure the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to all affected residents. He instructed collectors to expedite the distribution of clean drinking water, hot meals, dry food rations, and milk supplies, emphasizing that vulnerable families in marooned hamlets must receive assistance without delay. Health authorities were directed to conduct comprehensive sanitization and organize continuous mobile medical camps to curb waterborne infections.
The Chief Minister underscored that relief operations must proceed on a war footing with close inter-departmental coordination among revenue, police, fire, public works, and local administration teams. He instructed officials to initiate immediate surveys of damaged homes, livestock casualties, and crop devastation to facilitate prompt ex-gratia disbursement, reiterating that the state government is fully committed to standing by affected communities.
