Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited the State Emergency Operations Centre at Ezhilagam in Chennai to review rescue and relief operations across flood-affected southern districts. Monitoring ground situations in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari, Stalin assessed meteorological updates, water discharge levels from major reservoirs, and the progress of emergency evacuation teams.
During the comprehensive review, Stalin interacted directly with flood victims sheltered in temporary relief centers via video conferencing. He enquired into the quality of prepared meals, availability of clean drinking water, infant nutrition supplies, and the regular presence of healthcare medical teams. He instructed district collectors and camp managers to ensure all essential amenities are provided with care and dignity to displaced families.
Crucially, the Chief Minister directed disaster response officials to prioritize remote villages that remain completely inaccessible by road due to breached pathways and deep floodwaters. He mandated the deployment of specialized rescue boats, amphibious equipment, and emergency helicopter airdrops to ensure uninterrupted supplies of food packets and medicines. Stalin stressed that no hamlet should remain isolated or unattended as emergency teams continue around-the-clock rehabilitation missions across all four districts.
