Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed a comprehensive press conference during his ground inspection of flood-affected southern districts, detailing extensive rescue and relief measures initiated by the state government. Stalin briefed journalists on administrative steps undertaken in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari following unprecedented torrential rainfall. He explained that emergency response teams, including disaster management personnel, armed forces, and civic volunteers, successfully rescued thousands of marooned citizens.
Stalin detailed that round-the-clock operations are underway to restore disconnected roads, repair breached canal bunds, and reconnect severed electricity networks. Medical teams have already established hundreds of health camps across villages to prevent epidemics, while essential commodities like food packets and drinking water continue to reach cut-off hamlets via boats and helicopters.
The Chief Minister emphasized transparent governance, stating that revenue officials are actively conducting damage assessments to compute financial assistance for damaged homes, crop loss, and business disruptions. He reaffirmed his administration's determination to support southern residents throughout the recovery phase. Stalin assured that government ministers and senior IAS officers will remain on-site until all affected areas regain normalcy and economic stability.
