Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid homage to Dravidian icon Thanthai Periyar on his memorial anniversary, calling upon the public to follow the path of rationalism, self-respect, and social justice. Stalin emphasized that Periyar awakened the self-respect of the Tamil people after centuries of cultural oppression and fractured identity. By dismantling entrenched social hierarchies, Periyar established that human equality is the foundational principle of Tamil civilization.

Recalling revolutionary poet Pavendhar Bharathidasan’s verses describing Periyar as the visionary leader whom Tamil Nadu needs at every moment, Stalin declared that his ideological legacy remains unshakeable. He underscored that modern governance under the Dravidian Model draws direct inspiration from Periyar’s uncompromising struggle for equal rights, educational access, and dignity for backward and oppressed communities.

Stalin urged citizens and party cadres to resist regressive elements that seek to divide society on sectarian grounds. He affirmed that the collective resolve of an awakened society will defeat reactionary forces attempting to push the state backward. Honoring Periyar, he noted, means actively defending communal harmony, scientific temper, and universal equality across every sphere of civic life in Tamil Nadu.
