Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a comprehensive disaster relief package of one thousand crore rupees to assist families, farmers, and working people impacted by devastating torrential floods across southern districts. The relief measures provide targeted assistance for damaged paddy crops, salt pan laborers, fishermen whose boats were wrecked, livestock rearers, small vendors, women's self-help groups, and students who lost study materials. Stalin emphasized that every relief component was formulated after evaluating ground realities firsthand.
The Chief Minister noted that the state government had already disbursed over two thousand crore rupees in direct relief assistance, providing six thousand rupees per household in flood-ravaged northern areas and up to six thousand rupees in southern districts. Additionally, 280 crore rupees was sanctioned from the State Disaster Response Fund for emergency restoration of highways, bridges, electricity networks, and drinking water channels.
Stalin pointed out that every rupee of this massive relief deployment was drawn exclusively from state revenues and internal emergency funds without waiting for central disbursements. He reaffirmed that the Dravidian Model governance stands firmly with vulnerable citizens during acute crises, ensuring rapid rehabilitation despite stringent budgetary constraints.
