Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound emotional fulfillment after reading a report in DT Next highlighting how the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme fosters community compassion in schools. Designed primarily for primary school children to curb classroom hunger and prevent school dropouts, the scheme has delivered significant social dividends while reducing the domestic burden on working mothers. Stalin was deeply moved to learn that compassionate schoolteachers identify hungry students in classes six through ten to share surplus breakfast rather than wasting food.
The report narrated the touching account of a ninth-grade student whose working mother could not prepare morning meals due to early work hours, who now attends classes well-nourished through shared school breakfast. Stalin praised dedicated teachers across state schools who ensure no hungry child is turned away. He noted that well-conceived welfare interventions spontaneously generate unexpected societal benefits that reinforce community solidarity and educational equity.
Reiterating that education and healthcare represent the two foundational pillars of Dravidian Model governance, Stalin emphasized that overcoming fiscal constraints to feed school children creates a brighter future for the next generation. He commended teaching staff for their exemplary humaneness and dedication.
