Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin opened the second edition of the Chennai International Book Fair at the Nandambakkam Trade Centre, championing global intellectual exchange. Running from January 16 to 18, the event brings together publishers, authors, and scholars representing forty nations, ten Indian states, and over fifty languages. Stalin highlighted that the state government is undertaking the translation of two hundred professional and technical titles into Tamil, making modern technical knowledge accessible in the mother tongue.
To bridge domestic writers with international publishing houses, the government appointed twenty literary agents to negotiate copyright exchanges and global rights directly. Stalin described the international fair as an essential knowledge movement designed to showcase Tamil literary heritage globally while enriching the local language with contemporary worldwide research, scientific knowledge, and literature.
Stalin urged students, educators, and the reading public to participate enthusiastically in the academic seminars, panel discussions, and literary forums organized during the three-day convention. He reiterated that investment in public intellectual platforms reflects the government's steadfast commitment to fostering a progressive, rational, and culturally confident reading society across Tamil Nadu for generations to come.
