Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone and inaugurated construction works for a 621 crore rupee four-lane elevated highway corridor connecting Teynampet and Saidapet along Chennai's arterial Anna Salai. Stalin observed that the historic transformation of Chennai into a modern metropolis with world-class flyovers and expressways has always been spearheaded by successive Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam governments under Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Karunanidhi.
The 3.2-kilometer elevated flyover project will feature modern ramps and four continuous lanes, seamlessly bypassing four major traffic intersections along Anna Salai to provide uninterrupted traffic flow for over 2.5 lakh daily commuters. Stalin noted that once completed, the elevated corridor will drastically reduce travel time, alleviate severe vehicular congestion, and decrease urban carbon emissions along one of South India's busiest transit corridors.
The Chief Minister commended Highways and Minor Ports Minister E.V. Velu and state engineering teams for designing an aesthetically refined, modern, and structurally resilient urban viaduct. Stalin affirmed that his administration remains dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art transit infrastructure that accelerates Chennai's economic productivity while ensuring safer, faster, and smoother urban mobility for all citizens.
