Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reaffirmed his government's steadfast commitment to transforming Tamil Nadu into the undisputed sports capital of India. Stalin highlighted that after organizing the globally acclaimed 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Mamallapuram, which drew international praise for its flawless execution, the Dravidian Model government successfully secured and hosted the Khelo India Youth Games 2023 across multiple regional cities.
The Chief Minister commended Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for modernizing state sporting infrastructure and decentralizing major competitions beyond Chennai into Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Coimbatore. Stalin observed that systematically identifying grassroots athletic talent and providing scientific coaching, specialized nutrition, and financial support empowers youth from humble backgrounds to excel on national and global podiums across all sports.
Stalin affirmed that the state government will continue investing substantially in district-level mini-stadiums, synthetic athletic tracks, sports science centers, and specialized Olympic academies to nurture world-class competitors. He emphasized that sports development builds physical vitality, social harmony, mutual respect, and communal solidarity among youth, reinforcing Tamil Nadu's position as an undisputed national leader in progressive governance and sporting excellence.
