Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound honor in hosting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai to officially inaugurate the Khelo India Youth Games 2023 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. Stalin described the grand opening as a defining milestone in Tamil Nadu's sporting history, bringing together over 5,500 youth athletes from across all states and Union territories to compete in twenty-six athletic disciplines.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and State Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, extended warmest greetings to all participating youth athletes, coaches, and sports officials. Stalin noted that the state government undertook comprehensive logistical preparations across four host cities—Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Coimbatore—to provide international-standard playing arenas and hospitable accommodations. He emphasized that promoting athletic excellence fosters national integration, mutual respect, and disciplined perseverance among India's diverse youth.
Stalin affirmed that hosting premier national sporting events aligns with Tamil Nadu's strategic goal of becoming India's foremost sports destination and talent hub. He wished all participants an exhilarating sporting journey, encouraging them to compete with integrity, camaraderie, dedication, and unmatched athletic excellence on every track and court.
