Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam organized comprehensive public memorial rallies across 141 locations throughout Tamil Nadu to observe Language Martyrs Day. Stalin noted that the annual commemoration honors the supreme sacrifices made by brave student martyrs and activists during the 1965 anti-Hindi agitations. Addressing the central gathering in Anna Nagar, Chennai, the Chief Minister underscored that the party's ideological resolve to protect Tamil linguistic rights remains unwavering.

Stalin urged citizens, students, and party members to assemble in large numbers at these regional rallies to reaffirm their dedication to linguistic equality. He pointed out that the Dravidian movement's historic resistance prevented the systemic marginalization of non-Hindi languages in national administration and public examinations. The Chief Minister declared that Tamil Nadu will never tolerate back-door language imposition through centralized entrance tests, administrative mandates, or revised educational curricula.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the state's enduring two-language policy of Tamil and English ensures global competitiveness alongside cultural preservation. He declared that honoring the language martyrs inspires modern democratic struggles for state autonomy and cultural self-determination across the Indian Union.
