Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conferred prestigious state awards during the 75th Republic Day celebrations in Chennai, recognizing citizens who demonstrated exemplary courage, communal harmony, and civic philanthropy. Stalin presented the Kottai Ameer Communal Harmony Award to investigative journalist Mohammed Zubair for fact-checking social media falsehoods and debunking disinformation aimed at disturbing communal peace. The Chief Minister emphasized that upholding truth against manufactured malice forms an essential service to democratic stability and harmony.
Stalin also conferred a Special Award on Ayi Ammal, a civic-minded donor who gifted her personal ancestral land to establish an upgraded government school for rural students. Stalin also presented the Anna Gallantry Medal to fourteen brave citizens who risked their lives to rescue marooned residents during unprecedented monsoon floods in Chennai and southern districts. He commended the recipients for embodying the finest civic virtues of the Tamil society.
The Chief Minister urged citizens, especially young students and community organizers, to draw inspiration from the awardees' selfless dedication. He affirmed that the state government will continue honoring courageous individuals who defend social harmony, educational philanthropy, and humanitarian service across all thirty-eight districts.
