Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin observed the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as Religious Harmony Day, calling on citizens to defeat divisive communal ideologies across the country. Stalin declared that although reactionary forces assassinated Gandhi, they could never extinguish the profound message of brotherhood, non-violence, and secular coexistence that he planted in Indian soil. He observed that preserving India's rich pluralistic fabric requires persistent resistance against divisive forces attempting to subvert constitutional democracy.
Across all districts of Tamil Nadu, DMK cadres, prominent religious scholars from Hindu, Muslim, and Christian traditions, and civic activists assembled to take the solemn religious harmony pledge. Stalin emphasized that honoring Gandhi's martyrdom demands unified political and civic action to defend the rights of marginalized communities. He stated that the INDIA alliance represents the collective resolve of progressive citizens determined to restore democratic sanity and social equality to national governance.
The Chief Minister affirmed that Tamil Nadu will remain a bastion of communal amity and social justice. He urged the younger generation to embrace Gandhi's humanist principles and reject sectarian prejudice in all its manifestations.
