#NoCAAInTamilNadu
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin responded forcefully to statements by a Union Minister claiming that the Citizenship Amendment Act would be enforced across India within seven days. Stalin reiterated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government will never permit the implementation of the divisive legislation within the borders of Tamil Nadu. He condemned the law for deliberately excluding Sri Lankan Tamil refugees and discriminating against Muslim minorities, undermining the foundational secular principles of the Indian Constitution.
The Chief Minister recalled that the legislation became law only because the previous All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regime voted in its favor in Parliament. Stalin emphasized that while in opposition, the DMK led massive statewide agitations, gathered two crore citizen petition signatures, and submitted them to the President of India. Immediately upon assuming office in 2021, the DMK administration adopted a unanimous legislative assembly resolution demanding the total repeal of the statute.
Stalin asserted that the citizens of Tamil Nadu recognize the central government's communal agenda and will reject attempts to disrupt peaceful coexistence. He pledged to defend secularism and federal state powers against central legislative overreach.
