Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated the historic performance of Tamil Nadu's contingent at the Khelo India Youth Games 2023, where the state secured second place overall. The state's under-eighteen athletes delivered an exceptional performance by securing 98 medals, including 38 gold, 21 silver, and 39 bronze. Stalin praised the historic podium finish, noting that it represents the state's highest medal haul in the history of the national youth competition.
The Chief Minister congratulated Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and sports department officials for organizing the games smoothly across Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Coimbatore. Stalin stated that hosting high-caliber national and international events reflects Tamil Nadu's strategic drive to establish itself as the sports capital of India. He emphasized that modernized stadiums, scientific coaching camps, and timely cash incentives have nurtured grassroots athletic talent across districts, setting new national benchmarks.
