Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that DMK members of parliament will wear black shirts in the national capital to demonstrate resolute solidarity with the Kerala government's protest against central fiscal overreach. In a formal response letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, presented through Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeev, Stalin confirmed Tamil Nadu's full legal support for Kerala's petition before the Supreme Court of India. The legal challenge contests the Union government's unconstitutional restrictions on state borrowing limits and financial management.
The Chief Minister underscored that regional leaders across the south and east stand on common ground in defending the federal foundations of the Indian Constitution. Stalin asserted that while regional languages and local contexts may vary, the democratic struggle to preserve state autonomy is entirely unified. He condemned the Union BJP government for systematically eroding states' constitutional taxing and spending powers, starving non-BJP-ruled states of legitimate revenues, and subverting cooperative federalism.
Stalin declared that the enduring flame of state autonomy will never be snuffed out by authoritarian central rule. He reaffirmed that the unified struggle to secure fiscal, administrative, and constitutional rights for all Indian states will persist until victory is achieved.
