Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin affirmed complete solidarity with Kerala in resisting the Union government's encroachment upon state fiscal autonomy, communicating his commitment in a formal reply letter handed to Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeev. Stalin assured Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that the Tamil Nadu government will extend wholehearted legal support to Kerala's original petition before the Supreme Court challenging arbitrary central borrowing ceilings. He also announced that DMK members of parliament will participate actively in Kerala's protest in New Delhi on February 8.
The Chief Minister highlighted that leaders representing southern and eastern states, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, share an unbreakable constitutional resolve to safeguard state rights. Stalin noted that while political parties may differ across linguistic and regional spheres, they stand united in protecting the federal structure established by the Indian Constitution. He stressed that unconstitutional fiscal squeezes orchestrated by the central government undermine state welfare schemes, infrastructure investments, and citizen welfare.
Stalin affirmed that the sacred flame of state autonomy cannot be extinguished by central authoritarianism. He declared that Tamil Nadu and Kerala will struggle relentlessly until cooperative federalism and complete fiscal dignity are restored for all states.
