Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid homage to pioneering communist thinker and labor organizer Mayilai Singaravelar on his 165th birth anniversary, honoring his lifelong commitment to working-class liberation and rationalist awakening. Stalin described Singaravelar as a visionary intellectual revolutionary who synthesized deep linguistic pride with scientific socialist principles. Singaravelar presciently warned that both imperialist exploitation and religious sectarianism act as paralyzing societal afflictions that obstruct collective human emancipation and democratic progress.
The Chief Minister recalled Singaravelar's historic role in organizing India's first May Day celebrations in Chennai and his close ideological association with Periyar E.V. Ramasamy in propagating self-respect ideals. Stalin noted that Singaravelar's writings in rationalist publications like Kudi Arasu laid the theoretical groundwork for bridging economic emancipation with caste eradication. The Dravidian movement continues to draw profound inspiration from his fearless advocacy of scientific inquiry, secularism, and working-class solidarity.
Stalin called upon citizens and party workers to preserve the visionary thinker's egalitarian legacy in contemporary political struggles. He reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will remain an unyielding bastion of self-respect, scientific rationalism, and social justice against reactionary forces.
