Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released highlights of the Agriculture Budget 2024-25, emphasizing comprehensive interventions that protect living soil and sustain agrarian livelihoods across the state. Structured around the theme of 'Mannuyir Kaathu Mannuyir Kaakkum,' the budget introduces pioneering agro-ecological programs designed to enhance soil fertility, promote chemical-free organic farming, and improve water efficiency. Stalin noted that sustainable agricultural practices are essential to combat unpredictable climate patterns and secure permanent food sovereignty for Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister highlighted priority allocations for the Chief Minister's Solar Powered Pump Scheme, subsidized micro-irrigation systems, and specialized infrastructure for post-harvest storage and cold chain logistics. By establishing value-addition centers for regional horticulture and millets, the government aims to expand rural entrepreneurship and protect growers from price volatility. Stalin observed that the budget specifically caters to the practical needs of small and marginal farmers who cultivate rain-fed lands.
Stalin reiterated that his government will monitor scheme execution through regular field audits and digital tracking mechanisms. He asserted that investing in the agrarian economy constitutes the most effective approach to ensuring balanced rural progress and economic dignity for Tamil Nadu's farming families.
