Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered an emotionally resonant address at an extensive flood relief and welfare distribution convention serving thousands of families in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli. Recalling the unprecedented rainfall and torrential flash floods that inundated the southern districts, Stalin stated that the true measure of governance lies in how swiftly and compassionately an administration stands by its people during moments of crisis. He highlighted that state relief teams, ministers, and senior bureaucrats were deployed immediately on the ground to oversee rescue and relief operations.
The Chief Minister distributed substantial welfare packages, including direct cash relief for damaged dwellings, subsidized interest-free loans for petty traders, replacement kits for damaged artisanal fishing gear, and input subsidies for distressed farmers. Stalin criticized the Union government's persistent refusal to sanction special calamity funds, affirming that the Dravidian Model government shouldered the entire financial responsibility from state tax revenues. He promised that long-term mitigation works, including desilting of the Tamirabarani river basin and strengthened flood dykes, will be expedited.
Stalin concluded by reassuring the people that his administration will never leave them stranded during adversity. He pledged to transform the southern districts into resilient economic powerhouses through continuous public investment.
