Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated a historic industrial milestone as Vietnamese global electric vehicle giant VinFast broke ground on its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, just 50 days after signing the Memorandum of Understanding. Stalin highlighted that the massive 16,000 crore rupee project is poised to generate over 10,000 high-quality industrial jobs, catalyzing a profound economic transformation across the southern region. He noted that executing such a mega-project in record time demonstrates the speed, transparency, and investor confidence characterizing Dravidian Model governance.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the VinFast investment decisively decentralizes industrial development away from Chennai, establishing Thoothukudi as a world-class hub for advanced electric vehicle and battery manufacturing. With its strategic deep-water seaport, robust logistics connectivity, and skilled engineering talent, the southern corridor offers unmatched advantages for global manufacturing supply chains. Stalin commended Industries Minister TRB Rajaa and the Guidance Tamil Nadu team for their rapid administrative clearances and proactive facilitation.
Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu is rapidly advancing toward its ambitious goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy. He reaffirmed his government's resolve to foster green technologies, modern manufacturing, and equitable employment opportunities across every district.
