Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially inaugurated the North Chennai Thermal Power Station Stage-III supercritical project, commissioned at a massive capital outlay of 10,158 crore rupees to meet the state's growing electricity demands. Stalin recalled that the visionary 800-megawatt power infrastructure project was originally sanctioned on October 26, 2010, by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. However, the vital initiative suffered severe bureaucratic stagnation and administrative apathy under a decade of previous AIADMK misrule, failing to meet its intended completion deadline.
Upon assuming office, Stalin's Dravidian Model administration prioritized energy infrastructure, resolving contractual bottlenecks, modernizing equipment standards, and accelerating construction over three intensive years to bring the facility online for public benefit. The state-of-the-art supercritical technology guarantees higher thermal efficiency with lower carbon emissions, providing reliable baseload electricity to support Tamil Nadu's rapidly expanding industrial belts and residential networks.
The Chief Minister asserted that expanding energy generation capacity is essential to sustaining Tamil Nadu's status as a leading industrial manufacturing powerhouse. He reaffirmed his government's resolve to balance advanced conventional thermal efficiency with aggressive additions of solar and green renewable power across the state.
